The 30 MLB Teams as Christmas Items: NL WEST Edition

I started my journey through the MLB divisions with the AL East and worked my way geographically to the Pacific Ocean side of the country.  Let's stick with the West now and work our way back East with the National League teams.

Oh yes, I also started up a Discord channel designed for baseball card bloggers, collectors, and also those interested in my group breaks (the idea of the channel is to cater to multiple crowds - and give you a chance to promote your own blog entries, etc. as well)!  Consider joining!

Alright, now to the National League West and their Christmas item designation.

NL West:

Cookies - Colorado Rockies

The Rockies are the holiday cookies of the NL West.  Or, put differently, it's the cookies that are the Rockies that all the other teams in the West get to fatten up on.  Sprinkles, frosted, or plain, it doesn't much matter...for years now the Rockies have done nothing but plump up the competition's win/loss ratio.

Fruitcake - Los Angeles Dodgers

If there's one Christmas food that makes me thing of days gone by, it's got to be Fruitcake.  As such, the candied fruit infested cake had to go to one of the older teams in MLB.  For me, the Dodgers were the perfect fit because much like Fruitcake, the Dodgers are willing to throw just about anything into their team to see if it makes the team better.  Oh sure, sometimes the Dodgers try just a little too hard and go way overboard, but what good is a fruitcake that's light on fruit anyhow?!

Reindeer - San Diego Padres

Like the reindeer, the Padres are full of young, active players with plenty of energy and the ability to fly.  Also like the reindeer, when the going gets a bit tough the Padres can't do much more than try and make fun of better (more famous) reindeer.

Ribbons and bows - Arizona Diamondbacks

The Diamondbacks typically have their fair share of shiny things each year...and yet, much like ribbons and bows, the team can be easily discarded for the real gifts in their division (typically the Dodgers or Giants).  Plenty of flash but ultimately trash:  the Diamondbacks.

Rudolph - San Francisco Giants

Rudolph, with your nose so bright, you are the one who actually gets to shine tonight.  Unlike their divisional rivals, the Padres, the Giants know how to fly - and actually get all the glory.  Sure, the Padres may have a deeper stable of players but it's the Giants who figured out how to fly though the night and reach the shining star of the World Series more recently.
