Ditching the Cardboard Games and Going Virtual!

Happy Friday, everyone!  My newest tradition on the blog for Fridays is to do something board game related so that's what I'm doing today.  In particular, today I'm hoping to make some new board gaming friends.

You see, I recently started using Board Game Arena (BGA) once again.  Board Game Arena is basically a free website where you can play all manner of tabletop games and card games.  There are your classic games like Hearts and Cribbage, modern classics like Splendor and Ticket to Ride, and plenty of more "board gamer" games like Great Western Trail and Barrage.  There's also a paid member option so that you can start any game you wish (free players can join any open game, they just can't start a "premium" game on their own).

I'm curious if any of my readers use BGA?  As I said, I've only recently started playing on their again but I'd love to add some more friendly faces if you happen to use the site.  You can find me via the user name NachosGrande.

I haven't yet tried a ton of games on the site but there are definitely a number that I'd like to learn how to play and give a spin (Great Western Trail being one of them as I own a hard copy of that game that I still haven't even opened up).  I'm open to both synchronous play (almost would have to be in the evenings after my son goes to bed) as well as asynchronous play.  If you are interested, give me a shout!

  1. I can't really say that I was aware of this, but I might be interested in giving it a try sometime.

    1. It's been great for me so far since I don't have a lot of people to play board games with at the moment.

  2. I went and looked, but apparently you can't see what games they have until you sign-up. That alone will be enough to keep me away.

    1. Hmm, that's strange! I know you can sign up for free (and play games for free). Paid members are able to start "premium games" on their own but then anyone can join that table.
