Barry Larkin
Year: 1994
Brand: Pinnacle Church's Chicken Hometown Stars
Card number: 12
Parallel set: Gold
Today, I've got another "oddball" release, this time put out by Pinnacle for Church's Chicken. In 1994, Pinnacle produced this 28 card set for Church's. According to Baseballcardpedia, the cards were available in 4-card free packs during April and May 1994 if you bought a 9-piece family meal. In addition, collectors could purchase 4-card packs for only sixty-nine cents (with any fried chicken order).
Each pack of cards contained three base cards plus one gold parallel. The card you see at the top of today's post is the gold parallel (I've already showcased the regular base card from this set). As I said in that post, I definitely like the look of this card set (despite all the team logos being airbrushed away). The front design has a nice full-bleed photograph and the back has a decent write-up with a secondary photo. All told, it's quite good (even if I still think having parallels of oddball sets is stupid).

Cool set. Kinda bummed Pinnacle picked Phil Plantier to represent the Padres over Mr. Padre himself.
