Box #4 from my Case of 2024 Topps Allen & Ginter (Take Me Back to Brooklyn)

Another day, another box from my case of 2024 Allen & Ginter.  I've had two great boxes and one dud thus far from my case.  Now, it's time to determine which side of the coin box #4 will fall into.

Box 4:

As usual, let's begin with the box topper.

I don't have much to say about Juan Soto other than the fact that he's a Yankee which automatically makes this card much less interesting to me.

Moving on to the regular-sized parallels, I found three more Chrome cards, a Filagree, and a Chrome Refractor.

Much like the Soto box topper, I don't have a lot to say about any of the subjects.  Not bad cards or anything, simply nothing that moves the needle for me so to speak.

I did find one other rare full-sized card:

That's an In Action super short print (seeded 1:145 packs).  While I am planning on collecting most of this year's Ginter set, I will not be collecting the In Action cards - they are too short-printed (and there are too many of them) for my blood (and wallet).

Moving on to the minis, box #4 delivered nicely here including three black bordered minis, a Chrome mini of Jasson Dominguez, and a Brooklyn back mini of Mallory Swanson hand-numbered out of only 25 copies!

I also made out nicely with the mini inserts by landing another five including my second World's Tallest Mountain card as well as a tasty-looking Corned Beef Sandwich card.

I have to admit, I don't think of Corned Beef as a stadium food but I guess if I saw it for sale I might buy one.  The card back does say that this is a more "uncommon" food item in ballparks.

Finally, our three promised hits...

Yep, three boring relics including the second (!?) Gleyber Torres relic from the case.

Overall, the Brooklyn back mini and the In Action card saved this box.  I'd definitely say this was better than box #2 but certainly nowhere near the level of boxes 1 and 3.  They can't all be amazing, I guess.  However, if this box ends up as one of the worst in the case then I'll be happy as that would bode well for the remaining eight boxes that I need to rip!

  1. I like the Alonso in the one picture and the Jose Ramirez bat relic is pretty sweet looking.

  2. Action cards always look wrong in A&G. I wouldn't collect them either.

    1. Action card REALLY makes things look like GQ. Whis is not a good thing at all.

  3. Never had a corned beef sandwich at a ballgame... but that's only because I've never had the opportunity. I could definitely see myself ordering one of those as long as it wasn't crazy expensive.

  4. Took me a while to notice the design on the box toppers and find myself wondering how something that uses a design element which looks that close to a swastika made it through QA. I know it's not but it's way closer than I'd expect any brand to want to touch.
