The early and mid-90s were a hotbed of oddball cards, and some of the most difficult-to-find cards today are those cards that were issued in specific magazine editions. While the SCD Sports Card Pocket Guide cards aren't as rare as some, I'm still pleased to have this lovely oddball in my personal Barry Larkin Collection binder!
The front of the card features a standard photo of Barry, though you'll notice that team logos are showing which is a bit jarring on an oddball, unlicensed issue! The back of the card gives some of the prices of Barry's early cards (three rookies plus his 1988 Score card). Interesting to me, Larkin's 1987 Fleer was still quoted as having a value of $7 (the same as the year before on his 1992 SCD magazine card). Then again, I guess it's in the magazine's best interests to inflate card values!
