Pack Wars I: Pack 19 - 2007 Upper Deck Masterpieces

After 18 packs, we are all tied up in total pack wins. The first Pack Wars will be decided by a pack of 2007 Upper Deck Masterpieces. One of the few good sets that Upper Deck has put out lately...but for whatever reason isn't being printed this year.

Note: For complete scoring rules, check out the initial post.

Pack #19: 2007 Upper Deck Masterpieces

Box 1:

33. Chase Utley (0 points)

48. Randy Johnson (0 points)

63. Stephen Drew (0 points)

76. Bill Clinton (0 points)

Total points: 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 = 0.

A really disappointing ending to Box 1's packs. I was looking forward to some great Masterpieces cards, especially since I didn't buy more than a single pack of this set back in '07. Unfortunately, this pack wasn't great (or even good) at all. 0 points shouldn't be enough to win...but we've seen Box 2 lay some pretty stinky eggs over the course of the Pack Wars. It all comes down to the final pack.

Box 2:

14. David Ortiz (-2 points for being a Red Sox. Not a good way to start the final pack)

27. Daisuke Matsuzaka (-2 more points for being another Red Sox. Not looking good for Box 2.)

63. Stephen Drew (What, didn't I just pull him in the previous pack? Yes I did. Still 0 points)
76. Bill Clinton (You've gotta be kidding me. Out of four cards, TWO of them were pulled in the previous pack. That's disgusting. I should take away 100 points out of frustration...I should, but I won't. 0 points)

Total points: -2 - 2 + 0 + 0 = -4

And what do you know, just when it looked like Box 2 was destined to win this thing, Box 2 managed to pull a negative score and lose the entire Pack Wars instead.

Final tally:
Box 1: 10 pack wins and +182 total points
Box 2: 9 pack wins and +271 total points

So there you have it. Box 1 won the Pack War if you go by number of packs won, but Box 2 ran away with the points total. So who really won?!

Which box deserves to be crowned "Pack Wars I Champion"?
Box 1 - Total number of packs for the win
Box 2 - Total number of points for the win
Tie - I was too dumb to have a tie breaker in place.
Neither - Both boxes were lousy
The readers - That was one of the greatest bits of blogging of all time.

you contacted me earlier about checking for some series 2 commons for you. Can we throw those red sox cards into a deal?
