Topps Lineage Group Break: Box 2 - Packs 15 and 16

Now that we are down to the final ten packs, the hits should come flying...  Three hits in the box and we've yet to find one - will we in the next pair of packs?

Box 2 - Pack 15:

52.  Andre Dawson - Cubs

It doesn't matter how many times I type Dawson's first name, the first attempt always ends up being "Andrew".  Of course, it wasn't all that long ago that I used to think Sandberg's first name was Ryan rather than Ryne.  It must be something about the Cubs.
91.  Brent Morel - White Sox
99.  Honus Wagner - Pirates
135.  Tim Lincecum - Giants
148.  Aroldis Chapman - Reds
156.  Austin Jackson - Tigers
200.  Tom Seaver - Mets
T3D21.  Topps 3D:  Justin Upton - Diamondbacks

We can now scratch the Diamondbacks off the list of teams without at least one insert, parallel, or hit from the Lineage boxes.  As the group break host, that's good news since it means there is another team with at least a little "something good."

Box 2 - Pack 16:

25.   Whitey Ford - Yankees
34.  Kyle Drabek - Blue Jays
48.  Carlton Fisk - Red Sox
112.  Johnny Cueto - Reds
121.  Roy Halladay - Phillies
130.  Joe Mauer - Twins
117.  Diamond parallel:  Torii Hunter - Angels

Autographed Reprint - Redemption:
RA-DP.  Duane Pillette

Alright, here's a bit of a problem.  The redemption card makes no mention of which team Pillette played for.  I don't know anything about him, so I went to the always handy Baseball-Reference.com.  According to the site, Pillette played for the Yankees, St. Louis Browns, Baltimore Orioles, and the Philadelphia Phillies.  However, the pack states that there are 1952 reprint autographs (of which I am assuming this is) so I am going to put this in the pile of the team that Pillette appears with on his actual 1952 card - the St. Louis Browns (which, of course, goes to the Baltimore Orioles.

I believe that is the correct move (and I doubt BA Benny, who had the Yankees) will be too terribly upset since he already landed a great autograph from the first box!   I won't be scratching the code on the back - this will simply be mailed off to theStark who claimed the O's slot.

  1. Not a problem to me, if he appeared as a Brown on the 52 it should go to the O's. Nice pull!

I pulled a card from my box where I had the same question - because I wasn't sure if it was a Red (and I'd then want to keep it).

I'm pretty sure you can tell from the checklist that comes in packs which is a '52 auto and which isn't. For the reprint autos - the first 50 or so are in alphabetical order, than it resets for the next 20 as you've got Nolan Ryan, Joe Morgan, Stan Musial, Pablo Sandoval etc.

I'd be pretty confident this is a '52 - so if his '52 card is the Browns, that makes sense.
