Barry Larkin
Year: 2003
Brand: Donruss Diamond Kings
Card number: 90
Like much of Donruss early 2000s offerings, the Diamond Kings set featured a bunch of parallels and serially numbered cards. However, unlike some of Donruss' stuff from that era - the Diamond Kings set actually had nice plain 'ol base cards to go with all the fancy stuff. This particular card honors Larkin for his five different Diamond King appearances (you can find his first appearance on a Diamond King card here and his fourth appearance here). As of the time of writing this post, I don't have his second or third appearances in card form yet for my collection.
As for this particular card, I like it a lot. The front has a nice artsy vibe to it while the back gives a little glimpse into Larkin's career plus the aforementioned previous Diamond King appearances. Donruss may not have had a lot of legacy to build on but they worked well with what they had.
