Group Break 3: Fleer Fall Classic (Hit Alert!)

It's been a couple of days since I posted some packs out of the Fall Classic box (one of the downsides to having so many boxes in a group break I suppose - not to mention the fact that I also try to keep other posts on the blog too like my trade stacks and trade posts)!  Anyhow, let's not waste any more time chatting when there are packs to rip.  Here are the next four packs out of the Fleer Fall Classic box.

Pack 11:
9.  Yogi Berra - Yankees

41.  Eddie Mathews - Braves
48.  Mordecai Brown - Cubs
82.  Dennis Eckersley - Athletics
91.  Lou Gehrig (Yankees) & Mel Ott (Giants)

A nice pack for the Yankees - the Berra is especially nice!  The Gehrig/Ott card will be randomed off between the Yankees and Giants at the end of the break.

Pack 12:
37.  Joe Carter - Blue Jays
61.  Cy Young - Red Sox
71.  Jerry Coleman - Yankees
89.  Roy Campanella - Dodgers
23 of 43 RF:  Bill Mazeroski (Pirates) & Joe Morgan (Reds)  #0525/1000

As you probably know, I had to pick up a whole bunch of teams in this break - amongst them was the Pirates, so at least I know for sure that I'll end up with this card regardless of what the randomizer might say!

Pack 13:
31.  Orlando Cepeda - Giants
22.  Jim Palmer - Orioles
79.  Hank Greenberg - Tigers
Relic:  Pennant Chase:  Yogi Berra - Yankees

And once again, the Yankees get a bit richer!  Although this break wasn't designed to feature a ton of  hits (unlike the second group break of the year last month), I was hoping to see the hits that we did find end up distributed amongst the various teams.  However, that's one of the risks/rewards of a group break I guess - and for the Yankees, it's been all rewards so far!

Pack 14:
43.  Eddie Collins - Athletics
59.  Lefty Grove - Athletics
85.  Honus Wagner - Pirates
95.  Thurman Munson (Yankees) & Johnny Bench (Reds)
29 of 30 HF:  Hall of Fame Plaques:  Kirby Puckett (Twins) #1423/2001

A nice die cut, serially numbered insert for the Twins!  The Hall of Fame Plaque cards would probably look pretty cool as a complete set in a binder.   I assure the cards look much, much better in person than they do in the scan!

There are still two promised hits lurking in the box (and 10 remaining packs) so perhaps someone other than the Yankees will end up with the next pair of hits...or perhaps New York will claim all four, at this point, who knows?  Stay tuned to find out!
