A TCDB Surprise Card from mpdillard25!

A New Group Break Hit - Plus Current Statistics

The 2006 Flair Showcase box promises two relics and an autograph.  Today, we find one of the hits - just scroll down!

2006 Fleer Flair Showcase:
Pack 9:
15.  Tadahito Iguchi - White Sox
32.  Brad Wilkerson - Rangers
42.  Nomar Garciaparra - Dodgers
99.  Paul Konerko - White Sox
162.  Carl Crawford - Rays

Normally, I'd give the pack win to the White Sox but the Crawford is one of the rarer Suite Level cards - and thus good enough to secure the pack win for the Rays on its own!

Pack 10:
64.  Jose Vidro - Nationals
83.  Hideki Matsui - Yankees
CM-48.  Francisco Rodriguez - Venezuela (goes to Angels)

SS-RH.  Showcase Stitches:  Roy Halladay - Blue Jays

What a great grab for the Blue Jays!  As usual, the Jays went unclaimed in the group break, but for a secondary "bonus" team, you can't beat getting a Hallday jersey, now can you?  I like the design of the card quite a bit - it's solid all the way around if you ask me!  Easy win for the Jays - their third such pack win of the break thus far!

With those two packs in the books, it's time to take a moment to assess the group break thus far.  By my count, only the White Sox, Rockies, Marlins, Royals, Angels, Brewers, Phillies, and Giants are without at least one pack win.  On the other side of the coin, the Twins, Yankees, Padres, and Mariners all have three pack wins.  Every other team has either one or two such wins.  In terms of base cards, by my count the Yankees lead the way with 28 base cards with the White Sox (15), Red Sox & Astros (13 each), and Rangers, Reds, & Mariners (12 each) close behind. The Rangers have three short prints/parallels which is one more than the Astros and Padres who sit in second currently.  No team has more than one parallel or serially numbered card thus far.  And, finally, the hits have been distributed to the Orioles, Padres, and Blue Jays.

Looking at the information on packs and/or online, it appears that the Red Sox, White Sox, Marlins, Astros, Twins, Athletics, Rangers, and Blue Jays (twice) have landed a card seeded at a rate of 1 per box (or rarer).  Those teams will be ineligible for the bonus Donruss Americana packs (unless of course all other teams also land such a card).
