Barry Larkin Collection 216: 1990 US Playing Card - 6 of Diamonds

Barry Larkin
Year:  1990
Brand:  US Playing Card
Card number:  6 of diamonds

For some reason, baseball players seem to be a fairly popular subject when it comes to playing cards.  I suppose it's a natural progression from the baseball cards as game idea that's been part of history (from flipping cards in the 1950s to Topps Attax in the 2010s).  This particular card is from a deck of Major League All-Stars from 1990.  It's a bit surprising that Larkin was included in the deck mostly because he had yet to hit it big time.  In fact, the Reds would go on to win the 1990 World Series but I believe these cards were published before the fall classic took place.  The U.S. Playing Card Company would make another set of playing cards in 1991 and once again Larkin would be a six (though in clubs in 1991).
