Before unveiling the final results of Round 1, let me first say that everyone did a wonderful job. Whether you got twenty votes or zero votes, know that your participation has helped make this contest better than ever! Personally, I've been incredibly impressed with the quality of applicants and writing ideas - and I hope everyone is having fun. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be a contest if people didn't get eliminated - and now's the point of this particular contest where the cuts happen.
First, here are the final vote results:
In Group A, Play at the Plate edged Spiegel83 in what was only the beginning of some extremely close votes! Group B was proof of that as the two competitors tied. As I mentioned in the last post, ties are broken by advancing the higher seed - so congrats to Cardhobbyist...your #8 seed was one better than Al Kawamoto's #9 seed. Group B wins "most highly contested" although it wasn't the only tie in the round!
Group C was a three person vote where The Junior Junkie ended up scoring more votes than the two competitors combined. I attribute it to both JJ's writing and a use of blog advertising (which is encouraged)! Group D saw The Diamond King upend The Prowling Cat in a match-up of similar user names!
Group E saw Backstop Cards pull out the stops enroute to knocking off two people - Capt.Kirk and gcrl. Group F, on the other hand, was a slug 'em out knock 'em down fist fight where Jordan got one extra hit in on Red Cardboard in order to advance by the slimmest of (non-tying) margins!
Group G brought three more competitors into the same ring but Comotoad ended up running circles in terms of getting votes to coast to a rather easy victory. Congrats go out to Comotoad for securing the most votes in Round 1! Our final group, Group H, saw our second tie of the round. This time, it was the #6 seed Stealing Home moving on based on a higher seed than the #11 seed J. Meeks.
Now that Round 1 is over, it's time to look at the updated tournament bracket.
And finally, here's your prompt for ROUND 2 of the contest. The deadline for submission (remember to leave a link to your entry on this post) will be Saturday, November 9 at 6:00 PM EST. Good luck competitors!

You have a glitch in the system - If you vote for Diamond King, it goes to junior junkie. I then switched and voted for Junior Junkie and it went to him as well.
