The 2005 Upper Deck Past Time Pennants Countdown is almost over. I started with what I determined was the worst card in the 90 card set and have slowly but surely (3 cards per day) worked all the way down to the creme of the crop. Today, we take a look at cards #6, #5, and #4 in the set. Tomorrow, on the final day of November, we'll see the top three cards in the set. Enjoy (and happy Black Friday if that's your thing as well)!
#6: Joe DiMaggio
Joe is probably best known for his 56-game hitting streak but for me it's images like this that seem to best represent DiMaggio (especially since I never got to see him play in person). This card has it all - and it's timeless to boot. A great card that's definitely worthy of a top 10 finish.
#5: George Brett
Upper Deck included a few of these "conversational" cards in the set and I think I've liked pretty much all of them. This one, however, was an easy choice for my favorite because of the colors and because you can clearly see George Brett's face (and he's obviously discussing something of utmost importance - maybe something like what's for dinner tonight).
#4: Brooks Robinson
Robinson has the "honor" of being the final card before the "top three" cards in the set. Finishing fourth isn't terrible but it's also the first finish spot that doesn't get a medal of any type. Sorry Brooks, not even a bronze for you my friend. The card however? Pure gold. There's not much that could make this better...maybe haveing people in the stands but even that is debatable. I love it - but it didn't quite cut the mustard for Top Three status.
Who earns a spot in the Top 3? Well, by process of elimination you could figure it out (after all, I list the cards in order below and there's only three cards missing)! Post your guesses for the order if you'd like - and be sure to come back tomorrow when I finally finish off this month-long theme!

Comments
Brooks is my personal #1 in the set. Just love this card. DiMaggio and Brett would both be in my top ten at worst, maybe top five. Great cards. Nice job on the countdown.
