Barry Larkin
Year: 1994
Brand: Select
Card number: 7
What a difference a year makes. The Score Select set from 1993 is a set that I've contemplated trying to complete! The 1994 set? Not so much. In fact, I would say this is one of the uglier designs of any set pre-1995. I don't care for the vertical last name on either the front or back. The front is even worse since it features the player's first name offset at the top of the card. Then you get a red-hued image plus a full color image...and a random triangle. The entire front is way too busy!
The back is just about as bad - especially since the statistics and written blurb are so difficult to read. Couple that with no team logos anywhere to be found and a somewhat tricky to read card number and you have a set that's probably best forgotten. I am happy to have the Barry Larkin from the set though...after all, it's not so bad that I have to turn down a Larkin card!
