Barry Larkin
Year: 1997
Brand: Denny's
Card number: 17
The mid-90s were a great time to be a collector if you loved oddball baseball cards. You could get cards in cereal boxes, frozen pizzas, and even cheese slices! You could also sometimes find baseball cards in restaurants...and for today's Larkin card, you had to go to a Denny's in order to track down one of the cards that Pinnacle created.
On the front, you get a 3D lenticular photo of Barry Larkin finishing off hitting (presumably) a double down the line while the back of the card features Larkin's career stats plus a few bullet points of information. The Denny's set in total had 29 cards and you could buy a card for $0.59 with the purchase of a meal and drink.
To be honest, 59 cents is probably pretty steep for a single card - and if I recall you had no way of knowing which player you'd end up with... Even so, for an oddball release this is definitely a nice set. It's too bad that Denny's discontinued its baseball card promotion following the conclusion of the 1997 set.

The last free-standing Denny's in my area closed up shop for good today. Never knew Denny's did cards. That's pretty cool! I agree, 59 cents for a single is pretty high.
