Barry Larkin Collection 628: 2001 Bowman's Best - #78

Barry Larkin
Year:  2001
Brand:  Bowman's Best
Card number:  78

If this is Bowman's "Best" what is Bowman's worst?  *bah dum ching*

In all seriousness, this is actually a pretty nice card - even if it is a Bowman card (which is a brand I generally ignore).  The front of the card looks sort of modern, yet still is reminiscent of baseball with the blurred out green grass and dirt warning track.  The image of Larkin they chose is nice in that you can read the back of his jersey but otherwise it's pretty blah.

The card back is perfectly fine in that Topps always likes to give statistics with a weird slant in Bowman.  In this case, it's Larkin's hitting stats against pitchers of certain ERAs.  Unsurprisingly, the worse the pitcher, the better Larkin's hitting numbers were in general.

Overall, this is a nice enough set with shiny cards and virtually no frills (no parallels at all)!  For me, I won't be chasing the Bowman's Best set from 2001, but I am happy to be able to say I've acquired all of the Barry Larkin cards from the set.
