Monday Morning TCDB Time!

I enjoyed taking a couple of weeks off from the blog (and honestly, sports cards as a whole) but now I'm fully recharged and ready to jump back into the swing of things.  To start off, I've got a bunch of TCDB trades that showed up in the mail over the past two weeks so let's start the process of clearing off my desk by going through the various trades (as is my Monday tradition).

We'll start with a simple PWE trade with user TheHawk:

That's a 2022 Allen & Ginter Inside the Park mini that I needed for my set build.  I'm still plugging away on most of the 2022 Ginter mini sets (see my want list here).  Ginter came out super late in 2022 so it'll probably take me a few months into 2023 before I'm within proper striking distance of knocking out the full gamut of mini sets!

Next up, more 2022 Ginter minis this time from user obxyankeefan:

Those are the final two cards that I needed for the 2022 Allen & Ginter Time Out mini set!  Officially, this is the first completed set for me in 2023 - only 24 more sets to go to match last year's number of completed sets!

Continuing through the mail bag, here's a PWE from user mrrippy82:

My 2000 Pacific set build had stalled lately so it was nice to be able to pick up that Bonds card in a trade.  Even better, the same trade also netted me another 2022 Ginter mini that I needed.  I'm now missing only two more of the Baseball Lexicon cards - nearly there to another completed set!

Next, from user kcjays comes the final 2022 Ginter mini of the last couple of weeks:

The Badlands are one of the parks that I have never visited but would like to some day.  According to the card back, the Badlands became a National Park as recently as 1978 - I would've thought it would've had that status earlier than the 1970s!

While that ends the new 2022 Ginter insert cards for me from the past couple of weeks, it doesn't end the trades quite yet!  Next up, from user Philpott comes a pair of 2022 Stadium Club cards.

That Larkin is a Red Foil parallel and it's probably no surprise to anyone reading this that I'd want it.  What might be more surprising is that I purposely traded for an Aaron Judge card.  That one is for my non-Reds Frankenset - I need to look to see what card I currently have in spot #161 but I find it hard to believe that the amazing corn field shot of Judge can't replace whatever I have in my binder currently!

In fact, let's check that binder spot right now...

#161:  1998 Pacific Invincible - Tim Bogar

The current card in the binder was a great dirt-flying shot of Bogar, a worthy card for the set but still nothing compared to that Aaron Judge card.  Sorry Tim, you've been replaced!

The penultimate package of the mailbag is from user mjones68:

That's two more base cards for my 1998 Gold Label (Class 1) set build.  I'm still 12 cards away from finishing this little beauty of a set, another one that I might be able to finish in 2023!

Finally, we end the mail bag with a trade with user suspiciousplan8:

Yep, another 2022 Ginter mini - this time a "regular back" Larkin card!

Overall, those couple of weeks off did me some good (and my collection ended up getting quite a few good additions to it thanks to trades agreed upon prior to the holidays).  It feels good to be caught up on that batch of mail...next up is some of the Not-So-Secret Santa returns!

  1. Nice! I have completed 2 trades so far this year and have 3 in the works. Not a bad start!
