“But meanwhile, time flies; it flies never to be regained.” – Virgil
About two months ago, I published a goodbye piece to my friend Ryan who passed away. One of the ways that I chose to honor Ryan was by offering up a bunch of his custom cards to anyone who read my blog and expressed interest in the cards. In total, I mailed off full envelopes to 17 different people all over the country (plus Canada). I can't think of a better way to honor Ryan than to have his cards provide happiness nationwide.
When I sent off the cards, I did ask anyone who received them to let me know if they wrote about the cards or somehow featured them in any social media posts. While there wasn't any expectation that anyone would write something, I thought it'd be nice for Ryan's family to see the reach that Ryan has had on our little corner of the internet. Happily, a few people did reach out to me with their musings and I wanted to highlight those here:
First, over on Hockey Kazi a nice write-up on the cards I sent over. I did my best to send a "special" back card to most people, especially if I had a card that somehow could connect to what I thought they might be interested in. In Hockey Kazi's case, it was easy since I had a Jose Bautista Bazoooka back!
Next, on A Pack to be Named Later, Jafronius opened up a blaster of 2020 Allen & Ginter and then finished off the post showing some of Ryan's cards that I mailed off.
Finally, Baseball Card Breakdown recently posted his batch of cards including the much coveted Kate Upton (card #0 in the set).
Once again, I want to thank everyone who took part in the giveaway and a special thank you to those who posted about the cards. I do plan to share this final post with Ryan's family in the near future. I will also say that I still have a few more cards that Ryan created so look for those in future trade packages. I thought I'd be able to mail them all out in PWEs but it turned out I grossly underestimated how many cards I had from Ryan!

I just came across some of Ryan's Dodgers minis in my dupes sorting this morning. It was a nice reminder of his work.
ReplyDeleteI still haven't posted about the minis that you sent me. I'll do so early in the week and will send you a message when I do.
ReplyDeleteExcellent! Maybe a few more posts will pop up!
