It's been quite some time since I did a Lookin' Back at Kickstarted Things post (the last one was back in July of 2024) so why not use today to look at the next batch of things I supported over on Kickstarter.
While almost everything I've backed on Kickstarter has been board games or board game adjacent, I have dabbled in a few non-board game purchases including the Misen Dutch Oven.
My baseball card blog readers may or may not know that I do a lot of cooking. As such, when I saw the Dutch Oven Kickstarter, I was intrigued and I can report after using the Dutch Oven for a few years now, it was worth every penny. I LOVE the Misen Dutch Oven, it's versatile, it's heavy-duty, and it cleans up wonderfully easily. PS: If you want more information about the stuff I cook, you can find my cooking-related Instagram page here.
Throughout this Lookin' Back series, I have rated each of my Kickstarter purchases on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest mark. The Misen Dutch Oven is a clear 10 out of 10 purchase, I still use our Dutch Oven all the time!
My next purchase was back board games, and this particular Kickstarter was for Dinosaur World and Dinosaur Island Rawr 'n Write.
Dinosaur World is a table hog of a game that I have finally gotten the chance to play a few times. It's definitely fun but it's also similar to Dinosaur Island, an earlier "dino park" themed game put out by the same publisher. Dinosaur Island Rawr 'n Write is a "roll-and-write" style game set in the same universe as Dinosaur Island and World but with a totally different style of game play. I have enjoyed both games and while I probably don't need to own both Dinosaur Island and Dinosaur World, I haven't gotten rid of either game yet! This is the second 10/10 purchase in a row for me (and only the 6th such 10/10 grade I've given one of my Kickstarter purchases).
Next up, CMON Presents: the Animation Collection.
This is the second consecutive Kickstarter that I backed multiple games at the same time. In this case, I bought Scooby-Doo! The Board Game and Looney Tunes Mayhem! I did not add the Teen Titans Go! set to my order since I had no prior affinity for that particular franchise.
As far as the games I did back, Scooby-Doo! The Board Game is a cooperative game that I've had quite a bit of fun playing with my son. Looney Tunes is a team-based competitive board game (2v2) that I've also enjoyed playing. Both games have lovely painted miniatures as well which certainly adds to the overall satisfaction of each game. My only semi-regret about this purchase is that I didn't also buy the optional mini-expansion for the two games consisting of Dick Dastardly and Muttley.
Unfortunately, the price of $15 for two miniatures and a few cards was too much for me to stomach but now I do wish I had all of the characters to use during the games! No matter, both games were fun to play and both games still reside in my personal collection. That makes three 10/10 scores today!
That will do it for today's post! I've been less active on Kickstarter over the past few months, though I'll admit that I have backed a few recent projects that I'm quite excited about. I'm sure I'll talk about those is a future edition of Lookin' Back at Kickstarted Things!
Thanks for sharing the Misen Dutch Oven. My brother and his wife just bought a new home... so maybe I'll get them one as a housewarming gift. They both cook a lot... so I'll have to see if they already have one.
