For several weeks, McDonald's has been giving away Pokemon cards inside its ubiquitous Happy Meals. My son is HUGE into Pokemon at this point, so of course we had to get ourselves some Happy Meals! Unfortunately, I think McDonald's must have the same company figuring out their pack collation as Topps uses, that is to say, collation hasn't been kind to us!
Case in point, the entire McDonald's set contains 15 cards. Of those 15, we currently have nine which is okay. However, of the nine we own, we have duplicates (or, in two cases, triplicates) of four of the cards!
Here's the full checklist for the set:
- Charizard
- Pikachu
- Miraidon
- Jigglypuff
- Hatenna
- Dragapult
- Quagsire
- Koraidon
- Umbreon
- Hydreigon
- Roaring Moon
- Dragonite
- Eevee
- Rayquaza
- Drampa
Of that group, we currently need:
- #2 Pikachu
- #3 Miraidon
- #6 Dragapult (TCDB trade pending!)
- #11 Roaring Moon
- #12 Dragonite
- #14 Rayquaza
Duplicates we have for trade:
- #1 Charizard (x2)
- #7 Quagsire
- #13 Eevee (x2)
- #15 Drampa
I'm guessing the odds are quite low that I can trade the six duplicates we have for the six cards we need but I'd be happy to inch a bit closer to set completion. While writing this post, I found that TCDB has Pokemon sets (including the McDonald's set) listed so I've added my haves/wants over there as well. Who knows, maybe I'll start trading baseball cards for Pokemon cards - that's a day I never thought I'd see (but with a six-year-old, it's worth it to me)!
