This post is posted on November 11, 2009 - i.e. 11/11/09. There's no better day to have to have a post dedicated to the best Cincinnati Reds player ever to wear the number 11 than today (except in two years when it'll be 11/11/11 - right before the Mayan calendar runs out and all our baseball card days are over...).
Topps Black Gold Winner
Year: 1993
Brand: Topps
Subset: Black Gold Instant Winner card
Card number: no number
This particular card is probably the lamest of all Barry Larkin cards that I own...and yet it would have been arguably one of the most exciting cards to actually pull back in the day. This card features an itty bitty picture of Barry Lakin's Black Gold card, along with the other 43 players that were featured in the set. Counting this card, I own four different Barry Larkin cards from the 1993 Topps set, his base card, his All-Star card, his black gold card, and of course, this one. One thing I will say, the list of stars that Topps picked for this particular subset has withstood the test of time, with the exception of only a couple of players!
