Nachos Grande favorite MLB teams from #30 - #1.
Throughout the offseason (and possibly beyond depending on time...especially since I didn't do any of these posts during the month of February, whoops!), I thought it’d be interesting to rank the Major League Baseball teams in terms of how much I like and/or dislike them. Of course, everyone knows my favorite team is the Reds, and probably everyone knows what my least favorite team is too…and so I’ll be writing up the team reports in an arbitrary order to keep things interesting. In the end, you’ll have my entire list.
#6. Detroit Tigers
Team pros:
The Tigers are my uncle's favorite team, and as such, I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Detroit too.
I love the old script "D" on Detroit's hat...
...and I love that the script D has been on the Tiger's hats for decades...
Team cons:
Much like Pete Rose is both a highlight and blight on my beloved Reds team, Ty Cobb has the same stigma for the Tigers. Sure, he was a great player...but he was an equally terrible human according to most accounts. A more recent con is the fact that the Tigers lost (arguably) the "Face of the Franchise," at least to non-Detroit fans - Mr. Curtis Granderson. To make matters worse, Granderson bolted the Tigers for the AL rival Yankees.
Overall:
Because of my uncle, I've always followed the Tigers more than most American League teams. They've had their fair share of players who I've rooted for over the years, including the likes of Jack Morris and Alan Trammell. Detroit isn't my #1 team, but they are the highest ranked American League team on my list so far (one position ahead of the Orioles).
