Welcome back to the ongoing Blog Bracket Challenge. We have now successfully completed three rounds (Round 0, Round 1, and now Round 2). Before we move on to Round 3, it is time to take a look at the results for Round 2. A quick note: ALL eliminated players are invited to email me a card scan that I can use for a "revenge" round. I don't have many submissions so far so there is a good chance your card will get used should you choose to send me one!
Round 2 Results:
Carlos Salgado vs. Scott Sawyer
The number one seed continues to get it done! Carlos has racked up a ton of votes, much more than anyone else over the span of the contest. Good advertising or the benefit of being the first match-up listed on the blog? Either way, congrats!
Mark vs. dkwilson
The narrow victory posted by Mark sets up an intriguing #1 seed vs. #25 seed match-up in the next round. Mark is the lowest seeded participant remaining in the contest - and with an upset over the #1 would cement his Cinderella legacy!
Wilson vs. 30 Years of Cardboard
30 Years of Cardboard posted a nice victory - the second upset out of the first three votes (in terms of seeding based on Round 0).
BABenny vs. Josh D.
Yet another close vote - we had plenty of close votes this round! BA Benny used a late surge (thanks in no small part to his vote pandering on his blog - which is perfectly legal, and even encouraged in this contest)! Remember, the goal of the contest (from my perspective) is for everyone to have fun and for all participants to hopefully gain some new readers.
Play at the Plate vs. dhoff
Plat at the Plate had a great showing here. He managed to do what most favored contestants couldn't do - win the round!
Alfredo Ortega vs. gcrl
We only had one no show for the round (which was good). Gcrl wins by default!
dayf vs. Kyle4KC
Kyle4KC claimed this was a David v. Goliath match-up (with Kyle claiming to be David). I don't know if that was exactly true though as he ran away with the voting toward the end of the voting window.
Spankee vs. Kirk Jacobson
Another close vote - this one was amazing in that there were 79 votes cast and the winner was decided by a mere three! Don't think you vote doesn't matter - both contestants had excellent showings but in this case, only one can move on. Congrats to Spankee!
Congratulations to all the winners - and also to everyone who didn't win, we've had a great contest with some fantastic entries. Lots (and lots) of creativity, and while only one person will end up the winner according to the bracket, everyone is winner (including all the readers of all of our blogs)!
Note: I will try to get the Round 3 post written and posted sometime tomorrow.

Congrats to 30-Year Old Cardboard, I already had no idea what to write, then read the great post I was up against, and just couldn't muster enough magic for a victory.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all the round winners.
ReplyDeleteLooks like I need to pick it up in the next round - my opponent this time got a vote without even writing anything!
ReplyDeleteWow! Big variance in the # of votes per matchup. I would have thought those would be somewhat constant, but I guess not.
ReplyDeleteRevenge! :-)
