TCDB Monday: It's a Monster, Folks!

Another 100+ Year Old Piece of Cardboard Joins my Collection!

I'm back with one last original 1888 Allen & Ginter card purchase to show off.  Unlike some of my recent purchases, this latest eBay buy was only for a single card:

That's the city of Algiers, capital of Algeria.  My favorite part of this card has to be the camels walking along the sandy shore while the boats sail nearby.  I have to think that the scale of the drawing isn't quite right but it's still a fun image that evokes the city well!

Like most of my original 1888 A&G cards, the back of this one isn't in perfect shape:

As I've said before though, I kind of prefer my super old cards to have some signs of character or use over the years - makes them feel more authentically old if you ask me!  Who wants gem mint cards for everything anyhow?!

At this point in time, my 1888 City Flags set is now only missing 14 cards (out of 50 total).  I'd say that's some great progress on such an old set.  I know that I have some extra cards from this set thanks to my recent bulk buy, so my next step should probably be to get everything organized!

If, by chance, you have any of the City Flags available for trade, here's what I'm still looking for (like I said, I have some extras myself so maybe we can work out a swap)!

My 1888 Allen & Ginter City Flags (N6) Wants:
Amsterdam
Bremen
Catalonia
Genoa
Hamburg
Leghorn
Modena
New Guatemala
Nice
Rotterdam
Rouen
Saint-Etienne
Toulouse
Versaille
