Topps 2010 Jumbo Pack Showdown: Pack #4

2010 MLB Topps Jumbo Box
Jumbo Pack Showdown I

3 packs (and one hit) in to the 2010 Topps Jumbo Box and I can't say that I'm overly impressed.  According to the odds, my last two hits will be relics since I already pulled my auto.  Will a relic be hiding in pack #4?

Jumbo Pack #4:

Base
Cards:
18.  Tim Stauffer
20.  Tommy Hanson
38.  Houston Astros
52.  Billy Butler
55.  Manny Ramirez
57.  CC Sabathia (-5 Yankee)
59.  Kevin Gregg
70.  Cole Hamels
78.  Cesar Izturis
79.  Francisco Cordero (+5 Red)
95.  Carl Crawford (+1 for a cool photo)

100.  Albert Pujols
105.  Madison Bumgarner
109.  Justin Masterson
122.  Carlos Ruiz (+1 for the photo.  For whatever reason, this particular shot has an epic feel to it - plus how often do you get to see a camera well?)

133.  Freddy Sanchez
152.  Nyjer Morgan (2 ex-Pirates in a row)
154.  Pedro Feliz
155.  Zack Greinke
158.  Jeff Niemann
160.  Miguel Tejada
164.  Carlos Carrasco
181.  Nick Johnson
193.  Shairon Martis
201.  Detroit Tigers
207.  Colby Rasmus
226.  Juan Rivera
232.  St. Louis Cardinals
241.  Rocco Baldelli (-2 Red Sox)
252.  Ronny Cedono (+2 Pirate.  Win some, lose some)

255.  Chris Davis
257.  Bobby Crosby
278.  Carlos Delgado
279.  Randy Wolf
305.  Juan Francisco (+5 Red)

307.  Henry Rodriguez
316.  Chris Young
323.  Jim Thome
329.  Colorado Rockies (+5 Franchise History, +1 more because Coors Field looks so darn nice in that photo.  Maybe it's all the snow outside, but I can't wait for gorgeous blue summer skies again!  Total:  6 points)

330.  Brandon Allen

Base cards total points = 13

Inserts:
87. Darin Erstad - Gold Parallel (#0770/2010) (+1 point)
210.  Josh Beckett - Black Parallel (27/59)  (+1 point x2 for parallel /2 for Red Sox  1 point.  This is the first black parallel Topps card that I've ever pulled so that's pretty cool.  Although I wish it wasn't a Red Sox, I happen to know a lot of Red Sox collectors who might be interested in this one so all is not lost.)

TMC-7. Million Card Giveaway (+1 point /4 since it shows Maris on the front.  = 0.25 points)
TR29. Gordon Beckham - Turkey Red (+1 point...  I kind of think Turkey Red should be retired for awhile.)
PP5. Babe Ruth - Peak Performers (+1 point /4 since it's yet another Yankee = 0.25 points)

TTT12. Miguel Tejada Topps Town (+1 point)
LL21. Hank Greenberg and Ryan Braun- Legendary Lineage.  (+1 point)
CMT36. Bo Jackson- Cards Your Mother Threw Out regular back (+1 point...seriously, 1987 Topps?  People don't keep those things for use in Bippings...)
TOG9. Mickey Mantle - Tales of the Game (+1 /4 = 0.25 points.  Once again, a Yankee on an insert...*yawn*)
HOTG6. President Taft Attends Opening Day 1910- History of the Game (+1 point.  Did you know Opening Day is registered?  Me either but apparently it is according to the back of the card.)

2010 Topps Attax - Code card (is this really an insert?  I call it trash.  0 points.)

Insert card total points = 7.75 points
Base card points = 13 points
Total points = 20.75 points

Final thoughts:
What a brutal bunch of inserts.  Yankees galore - but I don't like the Yankees!  I wish Topps realized there are fans out there who buy cards who happen to like teams not named New York or Boston.  The base cards, once again, outpaced the inserts...which given the insert multipliers probably shouldn't happen...and if the inserts weren't so Yankee dominated, perhaps that wouldn't have been the case.

Scoreboard:
1.  34.375 points:  Jumbo Pack 1 (best cards:  Daniel McCutchen When They Were Young Insert, Ozzie Smith Turkey Red)
2.  26.875 points:  Jumbo Pack 2 (best cards:  Pittsburgh Pirates Franchise History, Ty Cobb Peak Performer)
3.  20.75 points  Jumbo Pack 4 (best cards:  Josh Beckett Black Parallel, Colorado Rockies Franchise History)
4.  10 points: Jumbo Pack 3 (best cards: Collin Balester Autograph, Carl Crawford Gold Parallel)
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.
