The Ultimate Ginter Mini Set Bracket: Voting Begins on the Round of 64 Wide World Region!

Welcome to the fourth and final region for the Round of 64 voting.  

Today, we take a look at the 16 teams that comprise the:

As before, I'll give a brief rundown of each of the various match-ups and then solicit your votes for the winner of each match-up down at the bottom of the post.  

2007 Flags of All Nations vs. 2019 Lost Languages

Our top seed in the Wide World bracket is the 2007 Flags of the World set (#3 seed in the tournament overall).  The Lost Languages set comes in red hot though after dominating the Fabulous Face Flocculence in a 11-5 victory.  For me, the Flags of the World set is one of my personal favorite sets...and yet, it's not even my favorite set in this particular region (more on that in a moment)!

2013 Inquiring Minds vs. 2017 World's Dudes

The 2017 World's Dude set might have been the one set that seemed to actively divide the voting population during the seeding vote.  A number of people said they love the set while a number of other people stated that they were purposely voting against the World's Dudes set.  That divide makes this particular match-up tough to predict...but I do think if the World's Dudes fall here then a lot of people's brackets will be busted for this particular region!

2008 Ancient Icons vs. 2013 All in a Day's Work

The All in a Day's Work set is a super short print while the 2008 Ancient Icons set is simply an awesome little set.  Am I biased against a set that I couldn't end up collecting due to its rarity (and crazy prices on the after market)?  Perhaps, but that's how it is.

2013 The First Americans vs. 2011 Portraits in Penultimacy

The sets featuring Native Americans fared quite well in the seeding voting (the 2013 First Americans nabbed the #13 seed overall out of 93 different sets)!  The Portraits set ended up with an almost "gimme" play-in round opponent (the one-card Greenland Explorer set).  I don't expect this match-up to be close either...but this time it'll be the Portraits set getting nearly shut-out (or at least that's my guess)!

2014 Outlaws, Bandits, & Ne'er Do Wells vs. 2012 Giants of the Deep

There have been a number of match-ups in the Round of 64 where I liked both sets quite a bit.  This is simply the latest such pairing of two nice sets.  I don't remember which set I had going on here in my original prediction bracket but I think I'm rooting for the whales at this point in time despite the fact that the Outlaws set is actually the #6 seed in the entire bracket!

2010 World's Greatest Wordsmiths vs. 2008 Pioneers of Aviation

The 2008 Pioneers of Aviation is another one of the stealth mini sets but I happen to like it a lot (in my opinion the earlier stealth mini sets were mostly much better than the more recent stealth sets).  That all said, the World's Greatest Wordsmiths is a nice set as well and it's not a stealth mini set.  It'll be interesting to see how everyone votes on this particular pairing.

2015 Birds of Prey vs. 2014 Into the Unknown

The Birds of Prey set got more love in the initial seeding than I was expecting (#11 seed overall).  Was that due to the relatively weak 2015 set or are the birdies loved that much?  I expect the 2014 Into the Unknown to at least make this pairing close, though I'm scared to bet against the Birds of Prey set at the moment.

2018 Indigenous Heroes vs. 2010 Monsters of the Mesozoic

Finally, we end with what is my favorite set of the bracket (the dinosaurs!) and definitely one of my favorite mini sets in any year of Allen & Ginter.  The dinos are actually the underdog here - they are the #43 seed while the Indigenous Heroes are the #22 seed.  

And that does it for this region of the bracket.  Time to vote!
