Trade Stack 90: For Fans of the Braves and Comics!

Here is how this works:
Every so often (i.e. whenever I feel like it), I will add a card to a "Trade Stack".  Whenever the stack becomes appealing enough to someone, that person needs to comment on the post saying they'd like to claim the stack AND tell me which card they are sending off of my want list.  That's all you have to do - trade me ONE card (or more, of course) card from my want list for the entire stack of cards that I'm offering.  Each time, it will be first come, first serve...so act quickly (unless of course you are a gambler and hope to wait it out until there are 10+ cards in the stack that you want in exchange for a single 2004 UD Vintage card that I am looking for)!

New rule:  Please note that shipping large packages to Canada (or overseas) has become too expensive, at least when it means that all I am getting in return is a single base card.  If you happen to want me to ship to a place not in the US, please contact me first.  Maybe we can work out a larger deal that will make the increase in postage worthwhile.  I am sorry for that as I have a number of great traders in Canada but I have no control over what the USPS charges for shipping!

The Trade Stack:
Last update: 6/30/18

The Trade Stack continues to grow - this one is rapidly becoming one of the most diverse Stacks in recent memory...and surely someone will stumble across it at some point and find something to their liking, right?!

Remember, you can claim the current Trade Stack in exchange for at least one card off my want list (or anything LEGO since I've been getting more and more into collecting LEGO as well)!

Delivery Time! Bubba Sends.... Part II: The Non-Minis

Yesterday, I showed off the first part of a somewhat recent trade package from Bubba's Bangin' Batch of Baseball Bits.  Today, it's time to look at the second half - the non-mini portion of the trade!

First up, I have to show off a surprise throw-in:

That's a rather thick relic card of Aaron Harang.  The relic is out of 99, but it's sort of weird in that only one of the three letter "windows' actually holds any bits of cloth...but that one bit is actually a nice patch so...  Yeah, color me confused on this one!  Still, it's new for my collection so I'll happily take it.

Now, on to the stuff that I knew was coming as part of the trade...

Matt (aka Bubba) sent me a bunch of the 2017 Allen & Ginter "What a Day" insert cards.  I'm still missing a ton of 'em though which is sad since they were seeded 1:2 packs so they aren't at all rare.  I guess the problem is that the set is 100 cards strong so it takes a minimum of 200 packs with perfect luck to get the full set.

Matt also had the last base card that I needed for my set.

I actually owned this card at one point - but after Mr. Michal Kapral reached out to me last year, I sent him my copy for him to sign.  For my set, I wanted an unsigned version (the signed version will be part of a different project that I hope to start sometime within the next decade...at the rate I'm going at least).

Finally, we end on a somewhat surprising note in that it's not an Allen & Ginter card...

That is two more of the super annoying short prints from the 2009 Topps Heritage set.  I've been working on the '09 set for the better part of a decade now (wow!) and I'm still missing a bunch of the stupid short prints.  Getting two in a single swoop was a major score for me - these things are darn near impossible to find anymore!

Thanks for the great swap, Matt!  As for anyone else - if you'd like to trade be sure to check out my want list and make an offer!

Delivery Time! Bubba Sends.... Part I: The Minis

Believe it or not, I'm still working my way through the last few trade packages that arrived either right before or during the birth of my son.  Today's package is an awesome one filled with goodies courtesy of Matt over at Bubba's Bangin' Batch of Baseball Bits.

Matt is a big Allen & Ginter collector like myself, so we often have nice trades involving the set.  Today's package was no surprise in that sense then since it too was full of Ginter (though not only Ginter).

First up, three of the four remaining Bust a Move minis that I needed from last year's A&G set.

I was definitely hoping to have made better progress on the 2017 set prior to the 2018 set's release, but alas, I think I'll fall short of that goal.  Still, Matt did me a solid by sending the Bust a Move minis, along with three of the Required Readings minis.

The Required Reading cards are kind of neat in concept - and even in execution (the front of each card actually has the first few lines of each work of literature.  The problem is that when you have a bunch of them together in a binder page, they don't really catch the eye or look very interesting.  Extra credit to Topps, however, for making the first page of The Iliad in Greek rather than English.

The final mini that Matt sent my way from last year's set was this Constellation card of Scorpius.  I don't prescribe much to the practice of astrology but I do know that my birthday falls in such a way that I'm considered a Scorpio.  I assume that Scorpius is "important" then to me, somehow.

Matt sent me a few other cards from the 2017 A&G set which I'll get to later - but for now let's keep looking at the mini cards.

Heading back in time a bit to 2014, we find one of the annoyingly difficult minis to track down:  an Urban Fauna of the super lovely opossum.

Those have to be some of the ugliest creatures on Earth.  I think they like to play dead just so they don't have to look at each other.

Heading back in time a bit more, we stop at 2012 which was a year that I figured I should try and collect the entire regular back mini set as well as the regular base set.  I don't know what to say about that other than I'm an idiot sometimes.  Still, Matt got me three cards closer - so I'm slightly less of an idiot now.

And finally, we get to go all the way back to 2010 for the final mini of the trade package - a World's Biggest card of the Polar Bear!

I loved the World's Biggest set - though I didn't love that some of the cards were hobby only while the first five were retail only (I think that's how it worked if I remember correctly).  Still, stupid distribution aside, this is a great looking card!

Many thanks to Matt for all the goodies.  I think at this point I've scanned enough cards that I'll show off the second half of the trade in a future post.  My poor scanner is on its last legs and I'm trying not to overdo it right now because I really don't want to have to purchase a new one at the moment!

Trade Stack 90: Mixing Politics and Baseball Cards

Last update: 6/28/18

Here's your chance to get an Allen & Ginter card from the (new) original A&G set...2006:  the one that started it all (again).  The '06 A&G set is underrated in my opinion, though you might not be able to tell based on a single card.  A lot of what Topps did back in '06 remains in the set today (including the full back paragraph for non-sports figures/items/locations).  Good stuff - so jump on in and claim the entire stack, won't you?

2018 Baseball Cards: FOR TRADE (Let's Make a Deal!)

Now that July is almost here, I'd love to clear out a bunch of my unwanted 2018 baseball cards prior to the release of what is typically my favorite set of the year:  Allen & Ginter.

I've already posted a pair of "For Trade" posts for two sets - 2018 Panini Donruss and 2018 Topps Gypsy Queen.  I have a TON of inserts, parallels, and even some hits available from the Gypsy Queen set thanks to the couple of hobby boxes that I ripped.  If you don't have any baseball cards that I need (my want list), I'm happy to trade for LEGO sets as well.

Please take a look at both of those and let me know what you would like.  It'd be super if I can eventually mail out all the cards from both piles...it would free up some much needed desk space here (and I wouldn't have to find some boxes to store the cards in the future)!

Note:  I had a few people mention wanting a card (or cards) from those lists but then never respond to my email (or email me in the first place).  Consider all cards up for grabs again - first to respond gets their choice!

I also have a smattering of 2018 Bowman from the one blaster that I ripped.  If someone is working on that set (or simply looking for cards of a specific team), let me know and I can see what I still have available.

The Trade Stack:
Last update: 6/26/18

I'd love to get the current Trade Stack off my desk and in the mail to someone.  Perhaps some brand new, shiny Bowman will tempt you.  I've got three chrome prospects plus one non-chrome prospect card...all who play for the Pittsburgh Pirates.  The Trade Stack probably has a little something for just about everyone...now it comes down to who will claim it first!

If you don't feel like scrolling down, the current Trade Stack features 4 Pirates, 4 Twins, 1 Dodger, 1 Padre, 1 Astro, and 1 Rockie along with 1 American Pride insert of a USA Baseball player.  Not a bad haul waiting for someone!

Remember, you can claim the current Trade Stack in exchange for at least one card off my want list (or anything LEGO since I've been getting more and more into collecting LEGO as well)!
